How do you say "Economy" in the United Kingdom?

The words "economy" and "economics" are spoken by so many commentators each day, as they read us the news on TV and radio, or discuss domestic and world affairs.

It seems to me that the majority of them favour the pronunciation sounding like "eckonomy", whereas the OED tells us that it should sound like "eeconomy".

If you hear the Queen using this word in any of her speeches, she always uses the latter.

She should know, after all it is the Queen's English.
